I asked one of the korean teachers today, what I can to to make them more comfortable in talking to me, and he said two things of interest -- that it's not my problem, it's the other people's problem... and his advice to me was that I should learn more korean.
So, there you have it, ladies and gentlement... I have to get back to my korean hak-gyo program. Lesson 3 - WOOT!

you learning more korean won't make them speak more english... didn't you tell me they specifically asked for someone who doesn't speak korean, for that very reason?!?!?!
Yes, they told me that on my first day...
However, it would appear that the reality of the situation is very different.
Today at the elementary school, I was able to understand the kids' Korean (somewhat) and also some of what the teachers were saying in the staff room (when not talking in English) which was really great. Soon my friend, soon! That HakGyo program really does rock my world!
